Study Center

Sogang University was established in the 1940’s by the Society of Jesus to provide an education based on Catholic belief and inspired by the Jesuit educational philosophy, in conformity with the Korean tradition of education. Sogang offers a variety of courses in Humanities, Social Sciences, Law, Economics, Business Administration, Communications, Natural Sciences, Engineering, Education and more. Additionally, Sogang offers a multitude of student activities and sporting events.

Housing

The Dormitory is located near the University Campus within 5 minutes walking distance. All rooms are shared with four same sex students. Dormitories are equipped with the following essentials: beds, desks, study chairs, closet, locker, LAN networking, fan, shoe cabinets, microwave, sofa, TV, laundry machine, air conditioners, and bathroom. Two meals a day will be provided at the University Cafeteria.

Note: Students will pay for housing directly to Sogang (Cost is 1,190,120 Won, approx $1200 dollars for the semester for room and meals).

 

Program Fees

The total cost of tuition is $15,165 per semester for the 2008-2009 academic year. While the Study Abroad office will help you with the setup of your room and board logistics, these are paid directly to Sogang University. All SLU financial aid and scholarships, with the exception of those geared specifically towards housing, will go with the student. In addition, a mandatory $250 international insurance fee per semester will be added to the student's account.

Requirements

In order to obtain admission, which is not guaranteed, a student must meet the following requirement(s):

  • 2.5 GPA
  • Not be in academic or disciplinary probation

Application

To apply, please submit the following documents: (Applications will not be reviewed until all documents have been received)

  • Application
  • One letter of recommendation from faculty
  • Advisor Form
  • Judicial Affairs Form 
  • Official transcripts in a SEALED ENVELOPE from all colleges/universities attended
  • Three (3) passport-sized pictures
  • Copy of Passport
